A suspect in connection to a girl’s murder in Bastrop, Louisiana was arrested in Arizona by the U.S. Marshals Service, according to police officials in Bastrop.
According to a post made by the Bastrop Police Department’s Facebook, officers were called to a home in Louisiana after a body was discovered in the woods just behind it. The body was later identified as 14-year-old Ashley Barnes and the Bastrop Police Department was conducting a homicide investigation.
On Friday, police officials said a suspect was arrested in connection to the case. Authorities identified the suspect as 44-year-old Montrell Donnell Holmes.
The U.S. Marshals Service in Arizona used cellphone tower pings to locate him, and he was arrested on a Bastrop Police Department warrant for second-degree murder, according to an updated Facebook post.
No other information was provided.
