A Shelby woman was shot and killed this week, according to Shelby Police.
Lt. Brandon Spangler said that Tuesday just before midnight on Bridges Street near Shelby High School, Latoya Walker, 40, got into an argument with Johnny William Lockhart III.
Spangler said the argument led to a gun being involved, shots were fired and Walker was struck.
“She wound up succumbing to her wounds,” he said.
Lockhart, 52, left the scene and turned himself in to police on Thursday, Spangler said.
He said Lockhart has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is being held with no bond, according to the Cleveland County Detention Center.
Spangler said both Walker and Lockhart lived in Shelby.
