Police say shot fired at officer on Indy’s east side; search for suspect ongoing


Indianapolis police are searching for a suspect who police say fired at an officer Thursday near the 5100 block of E. 21st Street.

IMPD public information officer Tommy Thompson told reporters at the scene that police were investigating a previous incident in the area around 3:30 p.m. when officers identified an individual with an active warrant related to a separate case. Officers attempted to approach the individual, who later fled on foot and fired at an officer.

No injuries have been reported. IMPD is urging the public to stay away from the area while the search is ongoing.
