Bright green fluid gushed from Miami International Airport ceiling on July 4th, flooding concourse

The halls of the Miami International Airport weren’t flowing with red, white and blue on the Fourth of July — but instead a bright lime green.

A pipe leak in the airport’s Concourse G caused the florescent fluid to flow down from the ceiling at 9 a.m. E.T. Thursday morning, the airport said. Crews were immediately responsive to the scene and determined that the liquid was not hazardous.

The spillage was cleaned up within an hour and a half, the airport said in a post on X.

“We would like to thank our passengers in Concourse G for their patience & understanding this morning,” the post said.

Greg Chin, communications director for the Miami-Dade Aviation Department, said in a follow-up statement that the mysterious solution was actually just water.

“The liquid was water from the AC system with a green dye in it so if there is ever a leak it can traced to its source,” Chin said.
