Hurricane Beryl Sends Huge Waves Crashing Against Santo Domingo Seawall


Hurricane Beryl sent fierce waves crashing against a seawall in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on Tuesday, July 2, as it moved across the Caribbean toward Jamaica.

Drone footage by Moises Arias, captured on Tuesday afternoon, shows waves crashing against Santo Domingo’s Malecon, a prominent waterfront boulevard that runs along the Caribbean Sea and acts as a seawall protecting the city.

The Dominican Republic was left relatively unscathed by the passage of Beryl compared to countries such as Grenada and St Lucia, with only minimal damage reported.

The boardwalk was closed in Santo Domingo because of strong waves, local reports said.
