ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC)— The 2024 WesTex Connect Fireworks Spectacular featured a large fireworks display, and then a fire erupted.

The fireworks began at about 10:30 p.m., and shortly after, spectators saw a blaze rise from the area where they were shot off. Brush trucks from the Abilene Fire Department arrived promptly, followed by other firetrucks.

Our reporter on the scene saw fireworks sparking from the blaze, shooting close to the ground. Fire crews are on the scene, getting the fire under control.
