One dead in Berkeley shooting


(KRON) — A shooting in Berkeley on Wednesday left one person dead, the Berkeley Police Department said.

Police responded to the 2900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way at 7:24 p.m. Wednesday for the reported shooting. Officers located a victim who died at the scene.

Police have not located any suspects. BPD is investigating the shooting.

Police closed Martin Luther King Jr. Way for vehicles and pedestrians between Ashby Avenue and Russell Street as officers investigate. There is no timeframe for the road to reopen.

The address of the shooting is near Grove Park and the Ashby BART station in South Berkeley.
