Murder investigation underway following Friday night robbery

Jul. 3—Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating a Friday night robbery at Cedar Creek Marina and Restaurant and murder in the Cedar Creek Marina parking lot.

“Last night was a deeply challenging one for our community,” the Mt. Juliet Police Department stated in a press release. “An innocent bystander was tragically murdered in the Cedar Creek Marina parking lot (county area) following a robbery at the restaurant (city limits).”

Mt. Juliet Police Department and Wilson County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are working together after officers responded to the Cedar Creek Marina and Restaurant at 9120 Saundersville Road at around midnight.

According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department, armed suspects ambushed restaurant staff, two of which were assaulted and forced to open the cash safe.

“Following the robbery, the suspects fled to the parking lot, where a 27-year-old male was found unresponsive with gunshot injuries,” the department said in the statement. “Tragically, lifesaving attempts were unsuccessful.”

The Mt. Juliet Police Department is asking anyone with information about the robbery or the connected murder at Cedar Creek Marina and Restaurant to call 615-754-2550.

“Detectives are particularly interested in any reports of a vehicle fleeing at high speed on Saundersville Rd or potential suspects in the area,” the department stated.
