Residents in Butte County were ordered by authorities to evacuate after a new fire erupted Wednesday.
The Butte County Sheriff’s Office ordered residents east of Palermo to leave after a blaze called the Grubbs Fire erupted several miles south of the Thompson Fire, a 3,500-acre blaze that spread near Oroville and prompted more than 13,000 people to evacuate.
Cal Fire reported the fire at 10 acres with no containment.
Deputies shortly before 5 p.m. put Palermo evacuation zones 867 and 868 under evacuation orders. Zones 866 and 869 were under evacuation warnings, deputies said online.
A Butte County sheriff’s evacuation map showed 159 structures in the two zones under evacuation orders and an additional 156 in the zones with evacuation warnings.
