Fourth of July festivities and what else to do over the long weekend


Jul. 3—It’s time to celebrate the Fourth of July! It’s time to celebrate summer like we mean it! It’s time to get out there and hear some music! Here’s how.

For you fireworks-loving people out there, here’s a handy-Yankee-Doodle-dandy list of what cities and towns are hostingthem.

There’s a whole bunch of other Fourth of July fun to be had, including Bath Heritage Days, which starts with a parade Thursday and keeps the patriotic party going through Sunday.

You can also extend the celebration of America’s birthday with a free performance by the U.S. Army Field Band’s Soldier’s Chorus. The Sunday afternoon show is at the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor.

Thinking outside the Independence Day box, there’s plenty of other fabulous stuff happening, including the musical “Crazy for You” playing all weekend at Ogunquit Playhouse and Jason Mraz performing live Sunday in Bangor.
