Emergency crews responded to a crash on Pacific Coast Highway near Thornhill Broome Beach in Ventura County Tuesday night.
The collision, described by callers as head-on, was reported around 8:25 p.m. on a stretch between Point Mugu and the beach, according to Ventura County Fire Department and California Highway Patrol reports.
Firefighters at the scene said three vehicles had major damage.
Crews said they were treating seven patients, according to radio traffic.
CHP reports indicated the roadway was completely blocked.
