The Supreme Court ruled that former President Donald Trump is entitled to immunity from prosecution for what may be considered “official acts” during his presidency but said he’s not immune from “unofficial acts.”

The ruling: The justices’ decision was related to Trump’s 2020 election interference case. The judge overseeing the case must now decide which acts from the indictment fall under official versus unofficial. [Yahoo News]

What it means: While the case is unlikely to start before November, prosecutors might have a chance to make their evidence against him public before then. [New York Times]

What else: Hours after the justices released their opinion, Trump’s lawyers asked the judge in his hush money trial to set aside his guilty verdict and delay his July 11 sentencing for falsifying business records. [The Hill]

Anthony asked shopping curator Zainab Akande, who writes The Checkout newsletter, for advice on getting ready for the Fourth.

Zainab: There is plenty of fun decor and tableware on this list, including cute, fruity paper plates. But my personal favorite is the chilled beverage tower.

Zainab: I don’t think you can go wrong with one of these 13 canned cocktails. It’s easier than making your own, and they’re actually good. If you’re not a drinker, I’d recommend one of these nonalcoholic beers.

Zainab: All of these yard games look fun, but the dodgeball-style card game that involves throwing giant inflatable burritos at your opponents looked especially entertaining to me. Seriously!
