Man fired gun at front door of occupied home

Jul. 1—A Decatur man was arrested Sunday for allegedly shooting a firearm at the door of his own residence, with three people inside, during an altercation, according to the Decatur Police Department.

Bryant Earskine, 51, is charged with shooting into an occupied building, a Class B felony, and third-degree domestic violence, according to police. Records show he remained in Morgan County Jail on Monday in lieu of a $10,300 bond.

Decatur police said they responded to a home in the 500 block of 12th Avenue Northwest shortly after 7 p.m. for a burglary-in-progress call. Earskine was in the carport upon their arrival, according to police, who detained him and found a firearm in his pocket.

“Detectives determined that Earskine lived at the residence and a disturbance had occurred,” DPD said. “During an altercation, Earskine fired a shot into the front door of the residence.”
