Suspect in fatal Howell shooting identified as Jeremy Michael Heath

HOWELL — The suspect in a fatal shooting at Metro Studios Ink on Friday, June 28, has been identified and charged.

Jeremy Michael Heath, 48, of Clarkston, was arraigned in 53rd District Court on Monday, July 1.

According to police, Sean Thompson, 46, of Howell, was found dead at Metro Studios after the Howell Police Department received a threats complaint.

The suspect in a fatal shooting at Metro Studios Ink in Howell was identified Monday, July 1.

In a release Saturday, HPD sought to correct conflicting pieces of information, and said Thompson was on-scene causing a disturbance before the shooting. They said there was a known history of disputes between business staff and Thompson.

Though some outlets reported Thompson had a knife, HPD said there’s no current indication he was armed, though threats of violence were made, leading the suspect to fire one shot — which struck and killed Thompson.

Heath is charged with carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, felony firearm and carrying a concealed weapon. His bond was set at $200,000.
