What’s Driving You Crazy? – Road work takes another busy street down to one lane in each direction

LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) – It may be time to cross another busy street off your list of places to drive.

The nightmare’s still not over for Decatur between Sahara and Trop. Or for Charleston off and on between Rainbow and I-15.

Starting today, add a-mile-and-a-half of Washington on the valley’s east side.

For all of this month and most of next, the City of Las Vegas is taking the street down to one lane in each direction between Sandhill and Nellis.

There are several businesses along that stretch, but it’s mainly residential.

You may have noticed the work already done there to make sidewalks meet the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

After they grind down the pavement on this nearly $2 million project, they’ll be installing traffic signal loop detectors before they repave and restripe the lanes.

Even though work hours are from 7am to 5pm Monday-Friday, the lane restrictions aren’t going anywhere.

Recommended alternates for east-west travel: Owens to the north or Bonanza to the south.

Good luck.

Buckle up, drive carefully – and, please put down that phone
