Flash flood warning issued for parts of South Florida

A flash flood warning has been issued for parts of South Florida, the National Weather Service said Sunday afternoon.

The warning, which includes Coral Springs, Sunrise and Tamarac, is expected to last until 4 p.m.

Earlier this afternoon, the weather service said, “We are up to *THREE* ongoing Flood Advisories across metro Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Definitely not ideal weather to be driving in, take extra caution.” A few minutes later, it upped the tally to four flood advisories, including a large portion of Palm Beach County.

It’s been a soggy day, drenching Florida Panthers fans during Sunday’s parade and festivities in Fort Lauderdale.

The rain should bring a significant cooldown. Instead of hitting the mid- to upper-90s as forecasted on Friday, temperatures will remain in the 70s during storms and only hit as high as the mid-80s once the rain clears later Sunday afternoon.

Sun Sentinel reporter Abigail Hasebroocke contributed to this report.
