Man shot by officer in Thousand Oaks, sheriff’s office reports

An officer shot a man around 7 a.m. Sunday in Thousand Oaks, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The shooting occurred after Thousand Oaks police attempted to find a man who was possibly armed with a knife, sheriff’s Capt. James Sullivan said. The city of Thousand Oaks contracts with the sheriff’s office for police services.

The man was conscious after the incident and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, Sullivan said.

He said the incident occurred at the intersection of East Avenida De Los Arboles and Erbes Road in a commercial area and was not at the man’s home. The location is just east of Highway 23 in the vicinity of a shopping center.

No injuries were reported to deputies on scene, he said.

Sullivan said the incident is under investigation.
