Donegal play Louth and Kerry face Derry in quarter-finals

After Dublin’s defeat to Galway on Saturday, there will be a new name on the Sam Maguire Cup at the end of next month.

The remaining All Ireland senior football quarter-finals are down for decision at Croke Park today.

Donegal face Louth with kick getting under after 1pm.

Donegal have not appeared in a semi-final for 10 years, while Louth have not reached the last four since 1957.

Then at 3:15pm, Kerry play Derry in a repeat of their semi-final meeting from last year.

 

Soccer

The European Championship continues with two more last 16 ties.

England will look to reach the quarter-finals when they face Slovakia in Gelsenkirchen at 5pm.

The other match is between Spain and Georgia in Cologne at 8pm.

 

Racing

The Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby takes place at the Curragh this afternoon.

The Aidan O’Brien trained ‘Los Angeles’ and Epsom Derby second ‘Ambiente Friendly’ (pr: am-bien-tay) meet again in the 1 mile 4 furlong test which goes to post at 4.05.

 

Athletics

Rhasidat Adeleke is looking to win a national sprint title at the Morton Stadium this afternoon.

She’s in the finals of the 100 metres at the National Senior Track and Field Championships in Santry.

Sarah Lavin will also compete in that race having clocked the fastest time in the heats.

Sophie Becker and Lauren Cadden go in the final of the women’s 400 metres.

 

Golf

At the Italian Open, Tom McKibbin is having a great final round.

He is 5 under par for it with three holes to play and 9 under for the tournament – a shot off the pace.

Padraig Harrington is in a tie for 13th place ahead of the final round of the US Senior Open in Rhode Island.

He is 4 under par, with Hiroyuki Fujita leading on 14 under.

 

F1

World champion Max Verstappen is on pole position for the Austrian Grand Prix, which gets underway at 2pm.

 

Cycling

Stage two of the Tour de France is taking the riders over 199 kilometres from Cesenatico to Bologne.

Romain Bardet holds the yellow jersey after taking yesterday’s opening stage.
