What’s open, closed on the Fourth of July in Northern Colorado

Fourth of July festivities will be in full swing Thursday, which means many places may be closed or have modified hours.

Here’s a list of some of the closures around town Thursday and into the holiday weekend:

  • City of Fort Collins: City offices will be closed July 4, as well as the Museum of Discovery and all recreation facilities other than City Park Pool, which will be open 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The Gardens on Spring Creek will be open. Transfort buses will be running on holiday service but their offices will be closed. Regular hours will resume July 5.

  • Larimer County government offices: Larimer County Administrative Services, District Attorney, Justice Center and courts will be closed July 4 and 5. The Larimer County Landfill will be closed July 4 and reopen July 5.

  • Federal offices: July 4 is a federal holiday, so expect all of those offices — including the post office and Department of Motor Vehicles — to be closed.

If you have errands to run this Thursday, it’s best to call ahead and make sure where you’re going is open. Or better yet, use the holiday as an excuse to enjoy the Fourth of July activities at City Park, safely tube the Poudre River or escape the heat at a nearby public pool or splash pad.
