The sheriff’s office said they were conducting a patrol check of the Cupertino Hotel when they noticed mail discarded on the ground. A SCCSO deputy then noticed a car leaving the area where the mail was found and made a traffic stop.

Additional “mail, packages, credit cards, check and a methamphetamine pipe” from the suspect’s car. The SCCSO deputy said this suspect had three prior convictions of identity theft and was out on bail on two pending cases. “He was back again doing it a fourth time,” the sheriff’s office said.

Approximately 250 pieces of “mail, credit cards, and checks” were recovered from “victims of the Cupertino and Mountain Views areas,” the sheriff’s office said. The suspect was since booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
