Fire in Custer County 100% contained and controlled


(CUSTER COUNTY, Colo.) — A small fire that was burning on Friday night, June 28 in Custer County has been knocked down, according to a post on the US Forest Service Pike & San Isabel on X (formerly Twitter).

At 10:56 a.m. on June 29, the US Forest Service Pike & San Isabel reported that crews had gained access to the Lead Mountain Fire, which had grown to .10 acre, and built a fire line. They utilized a helicopter for water drops to cool hotspots.

Later, at around 1:30 p.m. they reported that the fire had been contained and controlled as of 12:25 p.m., and crews are hiking out of the fire area.
