An ex-convict is accused of pistol-whipping a neighbor in Apple Valley this week, leading sheriff’s deputies to ultimately find and seize 17 guns from the suspect’s home, authorities said.

The incident unfolded about 8:45 p.m. Thursday in the 20100 block of Piedmont Road, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

A man called 911 to report he had been riding a dirt bike in front of his home when he was flagged down by a neighbor, officials said.

“(The suspect) allegedly pulled out a handgun and pistol-whipped the victim across the face,” the sheriff’s department said in a written statement.” The victim suffered injuries from the assault, left his bike in the roadway, and ran back to his residence to call 911.”

The suspect then stood in his own front yard while holding a rifle and a handgun and yelling toward the victim’s home, authorities said.

Responding deputies took Kenny Eithen Lattinville, 42, into custody without a struggle, according to sheriff’s officials and county booking records.

Investigators noted the victim had injuries consistent with being pistol-whipped and obtained a warrant to search Lattinville’s home.

Inside, deputies found 17 guns, which included 14 rifles and three handguns, according to the agency.

Lattinville was described as a convicted felon who is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.

He was booked on suspicion of assault with a firearm and being a convicted felon in possession of firearms, records show.

Bail was set at $140,000 pending an initial court appearance.
