Youngsville bicyclist dies of injuries from June 15 Iberia Parish crash

IBERIA PARISH, La. (KLFY) — A Youngsville man who was hit on his bicycle by a pickup truck in Iberia Parish on June 15 has died, authorities said.

Louisiana State Police Troop I was notified Saturday that Avery Foreman, 36, of Youngsville, died June 25.

State Police responded shortly after 11 p.m. June 15 to a report of a vehicle crash involving a bicyclist on La. 14 near Old La. Hwy. 25.

Investigators said Foreman was westbound on La. 14 while riding a bicycle. At the same time, a 2002 Ford F-250 was traveling west, approaching Foreman, when it struck him from behind in the right westbound lane. Troopers said Foreman was not wearing a helmet, was wearing dark clothing, and his bicycle had no lights or reflectors.

Foreman suffered severe injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died. The driver of the Ford was unhurt.

Although impairment on the part of the Ford driver was not suspected, they voluntarily provided a breath sample that showed no alcohol detected. A standard toxicology sample was collected from Foreman and submitted for analysis.
