Metro Nashville Police identify ‘apparent murder-suicide’ victims fatally shot outside Nashville home

A man and woman who died in an apparent murder-suicide Saturday have been identified.

Police discovered Heather Nelson, 42, and her boyfriend, Christopher Minchey, 51, fatally shot outside a home in the 4400 block of Cato Road in Northwest Nashville around 2 a.m. Saturday, according to a press release.

Investigators with the Metro Nashville Police Department determined Nelson and Minchey had argued before he fatally shot her, then fatally shot himself.

A witness reportedly saw Minchey follow Nelson to the end of the driveway.

The witness then heard gunshots and watched as Nelson fell forward on the ground, followed by Minchey.

Both Minchey and Nelson died at the scene.

The department’s Domestic Violence Division had no prior involvement with the couple, according to the release.
