EMMET COUNTY — On Friday, June 21, Sgt. Mitch Wallin of the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office was one of three deputies from the State of Michigan who were awarded the 2023 Outstanding Deputy of the Year Award.

The award is presented by the MADD Michigan Chapter (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers). Wallin was chosen for his 26 arrests and convictions of OUIL/OUID. Wallin has led his department with OUIL/OUID arrests since he was hired in 2018.

Wallin was presented the award by Matt Saxton, executive director of the Michigan Sheriff’s Association.
