Damaging winds uproot signs at Nashville International Airport


Damaging winds blowing through Middle Tennessee Wednesday knocked road signs from Hanger Lane at Nashville International Airport, the National Weather Service Nashville said.

A severe thunderstorm passed through the area with possible wind gusts reaching up to 60 miles per hour, according to the weather service.

A downburst was reported at the airport around 5 p.m. No injuries have been reported.

“Our operations team did a sweep of Hangar Lane and noted that a stop sign and a directional sign were knocked over,” airport spokesperson Erin Thomas said in a statement.

Nashville forecast

Showers and thunderstorms are likely before 11 p.m. The chance of precipitation is 80%.

Thursday: A slight chance of showers is possible before 7 a.m. with mostly cloudy skies with a high temperature of 89 degrees.

Friday: Mostly sunny skies with high temperatures near 94 degrees. Evening temperatures will drop to 76 degrees under partly cloudy skies.

Saturday: A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. A 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday evening.

Sunday: A 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms with a high temperature of 92 degrees. Mostly clear skies Sunday evening with low temperatures around 65 degrees.
