Cheerleading coach in Winder faces child exploitation charge

The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday the arrest of a cheerleading coach who worked at a Winder gym.

The suspect, Charles Archibald Moore Jr., 34, of Snellville in Gwinnett County, is charged with sexual exploitation of a child.

Moore was arrested Thursday after deputies along with police from the Loganville Police Department searched his residence.

“This arrest is the result of an ongoing, multi-jurisdictional investigation in which we received information from the Loganville Police Department following their arrest of the suspect for sexual exploitation of children earlier this year,” Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith said in a statement released with the announcement.

Barrow investigators began working the case in February, he said.

Moore worked for Star Athletics Cheer & Tumbling on Tucker Road in Winder. He was fired as a coach last November after parents complained of inappropriate social media posts, the sheriff said.

“We believe there are other victims who have not come forward,” sheriff’s investigator Heather Stafford said. “We really want to let these girls know that they will not be in trouble if they come forward with information relating to Mr. Moore’s behavior.”

Moore is currently in jail without bond.
