Worcester man arrested, charged in 16-year-old double homicide

State police arrested a Worcester man early this morning on charges related to a 2008 double homicide in Taunton, according to the office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III.

Kaylen Scott, 36, of Worcester, was one of two men indicted on Thursday following a grand jury investigation into the deaths of Kevin and Sean Vargas. The second man indicted, Steven Fordham, 38, of Taunton, was arrested Thursday night, according to Quinn’s office.

Scott and Fordham are each charged with two counts of murder.

Shawn and Kevin Vargas were fatally shot in Kevin Vargas’s apartment on Somerset Avenue in Taunton on Feb. 24, 2008. Shawn Vargas’s two sons, 4 and 2 years old, were present at the time of the shootings, but were uninjured.

Scott and Fordham will be arraigned Friday morning in Fall River Superior Court, Quinn’s office said.
