Grand Forks’ Evan Montgomery elected secretary of the North Dakota Soybean Council


Jun. 26—GRAND FORKS — Evan Montgomery of Grand Forks has been elected secretary of the North Dakota Soybean Council.

Montgomery was elected during the council’s June board meeting and represents soybean farmers in District 7, which includes Grand Forks and Traill counties. His family farm has grown soybeans since the 1980s.

His election was announced in a release sent to the media.

Along with soybeans, Montgomery also focuses on music and livestock, the release said. He graduated from NDSU with a degree in vocal performance, sings with his own band and both performs in the Grand Forks Master Chorale and serves as its board vice president. He also works in his family’s livestock operation, which includes cows and a large horse boarding and training facility, and represents the North Dakota Soybean Council on the North Dakota Livestock Alliance board. Additionally, he is involved with the North Dakota Farm Bureau and the Brenna Township Board.

Other executive officers elected at the council’s board meeting include Jim Thompson of Page as chairman, Rob Rose of Wimbledon as vice chairman (reelected) and Dallas Loff of Wahpeton as treasurer.
