Jun. 26—One person was reportedly shot at an apartment complex in Dayton late Wednesday morning.

Around 11:18 a.m., a shooting was reported at Park Manor apartment complex. A male was shot and is in non-life-threatening condition, according to Dayton police.

When officers arrived they found the victim lying in the grass, said Lt. David Matthews. He was transported to Miami Valley Hospital.

“Through the process of the investigation, they discovered that the incident likely took place on the sixth floor of the building,” Matthews added.

Evidence technicians were gathering evidence as detectives spoke to witnesses at the scene early Wednesday afternoon. At least half a dozen Dayton police cruisers were seen on Jones Street outside the apartment complex.

Multiple people heard gunfire, but did not witness the shooting, Matthews said.

The suspect reportedly ran out the building.

Matthews said investigators have no reason at this time to believe the shooting is connected to any incidents from over the weekend.

“As far as the gun violence goes, we need everybody to take a step back. Take a breath,” he said. “Don’t jump to conclusions and don’t jump to gunfire to resolve your differences. It’s too easy to pull out a gun. All too many times guns are permanent.”
