Firefighters responding to large field fire in Tolono


TOLONO, Ill. (WCIA) — Central Illinois firefighters are responding to a large field fire in Tolono late Saturday morning.

After the fire was called in at 11:11 a.m., firefighters from the Savoy and Tolono Fire Departments were dispatched to 1011 at County Road 1200 E where they continue working to extinguish the flames.

Pesotum and Bondville Fire Departments also arrived just before noon to assist in controlling the fire.

A WCIA reporter on the scene said the flames started from a controlled fire which got out on control, spreading into the long grass nearby. The smoke can be seen for miles out. No one is hurt.
