Tempe police recovered a body from Tempe Town Lake and closed the surrounding area for investigation Friday morning. This was the second body found in the lake this week.

Police received a call about a body found in the lake around 5 a.m. near Rio Salado Parkway and Mill Avenue.

Officers and first responders removed the man’s body from the water but have not identified him or determined what caused his death.

This discovery comes after officials found the body of 47-year-old Michael Reyes in the water Tuesday morning.

Witnesses reported seeing Reyes swimming about two-thirds of the way across the lake before disappearing Monday night.

Officials said it was unclear why Reyes went into the lake.
