The Co Down man is three under par, despite a second round 72.

Shane Lowry shot a 71 to end the day on five over par.

Swede Ludvig Aberg is the outright leader on five under par.

All-Ireland football

Derry and Westmeath do battle for a preliminary quarter-final in the All-Ireland Football Championship at 7pm this evening.

Cork play Tyrone in Tullamore at 3pm, with the winners going straight into the last-eight.

Clare take on Donegal in Castlebar also at 3pm.

Longford is the venue where Roscommon play Cavan at 5pm.

Tailteann Cup

Three of the weekend’s Tailteann Cup quarter-finals will be settled today.

Down play Wicklow in Newry at 4.30pm.
