A semi carrying over 150 pigs overturned and closed the ramp to Intestate 70 Tuesday morning.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers were dispatched at 5:18 a.m. on initial reports of an overturned semi on the ramp from State Route 49 to I-70.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2019 commercial tractor-trailer semi-truck, driven by 43-year-old Derrick Selhorst of Celina, was heading north of SR 49 on the on-ramp to I-70.

While on the on-ramp, the semi overturned, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Firefighters told News Center 7′s Kayla McDermott that the semi was carrying 150-200 market-sized pigs when it overturned.

The pigs were loose on the interstate after the crash. Firefighters on scene said a majority of the pigs would be euthanized.

The semi-driver was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries.

The ramp from State Route 49 to Interstate 70 is closed and not expected to reopen for several hours.

Traffic is being diverted away from the on-ramp while crews continue their investigation and clean up the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol Dayton post is investigating the crash.
