Ohio voters living in the 6th Congressional District will head to the polls today for a special election.
Voters will choose a candidate to fill the remainder of former U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson’s term, which runs through the end of the year. Johnson left his position earlier this year to become president of Youngstown State University.
The ballot will have two candidates: Republican state Sen. Michael Rulli of Salem Township in Columbiana County and Democrat Michael Kripchak of Youngstown. Independent candidate Christopher LaFont of Bethesda in Belmont County is an official write-in candidate.

The 6th Congressional District covers parts or all of 11 counties — including portions of Stark County and all of Carroll County — running from Youngstown to Marietta along the eastern side of the state.
The polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
