Central Florida needs way more housing. What should we do next?

Central Florida is growing at a rapid pace, which normally is seen as a positive — but it is placing stress on an already-tight housing market.

Metro Orlando was the No. 4 fastest-growing U.S. metro, gaining an additional 54,916 people from 2022 to 2023, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Last year, the region boasted a population of 2.81 million.

That has — and continues — to put stress on the Central Florida housing market ranging from affordable to the middle housing sector.
