Ireland beat Hungary after last-gasp Parrott goal

The Republic of Ireland secured their first win under interim boss John O’Shea this evening.

They beat Hungary 2-1 at the Aviva Stadium after a battling display.

Adam Idah opened the scoring for the home side in the 36th minute, heading home a cross from Will Smallbone. Adam Lang equalised four minutes later.

Substitute Troy Parrott then scored in injury time of the second-half to seal the win.

Ireland struggled at times in the game but the win against European Championship bound Hungary is a welcome one for O’Shea’s side.

Hungary were unbeaten for 14 games before coming to Dublin.

Next up Ireland face Portugal away next Tuesday.
