Southwest Airlines is expanding services at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, offering direct flights to Nashville.
The expansion, which started Tuesday with a 10:35 a.m. departure, marks GSP’s ninth new route this year. Southwest last had a direct flight from GSP to Nashville in 2014.
Southwest will also begin offering direct flights to Atlanta, Denver, Baltimore, and Houston-Hobby. Flights to Denver will start on June 8 but will only be offered on the weekend.
“We are thrilled to welcome back service to Nashville, one of our most requested routes, and to offer Upstate SC passengers even more options for their travel needs,” said Dave Edwards, GSP president and chief executive officer, in a statement. “The addition of this new route will not only provide greater connectivity to the West but will also contribute to the economic growth and tourism in our region.”

Options for non-stop flights from GSP continue to grow. In May, the airport welcomed Breeze Airways, which offers low-cost, direct flights to destinations including Orlando and Los Angeles.
