Home prices and the availability of housing are the combined top issue for Massachusetts voters, according to a new poll.
Results of the latest UMass Amherst/WCVB poll show that 34% of respondents said the lack of affordable housing stock in the state was the top issue they’d like to see Gov. Maura Healey and the legislature address. That’s up from 31% in the October poll, according to WCVB.
The $660,000 median single-family home sales price in Norfolk County for February 2024, the most recent month available from realtor.com, represents a 10% increase from February 2023, when the median sales price was $600,000.
Median single-family home prices during that same time period for Plymouth County saw an 11.13% increase, or $539,000 compared to $479,000.
The next-most prioritized issue in the poll was immigration, with 18% of respondents. No other political issue was chosen by more than 9% of those polled.
