Panda Biotech announced it will host a ribbon-cutting at its hemp gin at 8600 North Central Freeway on June 12.
Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller will be among the speakers, the company said in a press release.
Panda announced it had begun production in early April after numerous delays from the original projected start date of early 2021.
The hemp gin is in the former facility of Delphi automotive products on Interstate Highway 44 north of Wichita Falls.
The company received a $2.8 million incentive deal from the city of Wichita Falls in exchange for promising to hire 50 workers. In November 2023, Panda got a three-year extension on that promise. Panda had received a $1 million loan from the city’s Economic Development Corporation and paid it off in December 2023.
The company announced in 2020 it intended to use the Wichita Falls facility as a gin to turn hemp stalk into products for commercial use.
