If you’re a fan of sweet, ripe peaches, then Kroger has your back.

The grocery chain is selling crates of Georgia peaches at special events this summer and fans of the sweet stone fruit can buy some starting today.

Here’s what we know.

Kroger’s Sweet Georgia Peaches program promises fresh southern fruit

On its website, Kroger promises “hand-picked peaches from family farms, bursting with just-off-the-tree freshness” delivered directly to the store.

Customers can take home 12-pound crates of peaches for $19.99 at the events.

If you have a hankering for peach pie, BBQ ribs with peach-infused sauce, peach smoothies or other recipes (which Kroger also offers on its site), then you won’t have to wait long. The first deliveries to local stores start today, May 31.

When will your Kroger have fresh peaches for sale?

Sweet Georgia Peaches events will take place at various Kroger stores throughout Ohio in May, June, July and August. Kroger’s website has the full list of Ohio and Northern Kentucky stores participating in the events.

Other peach pickup options

If you can’t make it to your nearest Kroger for fresh peaches, The Peach Truck (not affiliated with the grocery chain) offers pickup options at events throughout the summer. A 12-pound box costs $45, but the site offers price breaks for larger orders. The Peach Trucks also offers three-pound bags and home delivery options.

When is peach season?

Georgia peaches achieve peak ripeness from mid-May through mid-August, according to The Peach Truck. Florida peaches are typically the first off the tree in April and May, the site says.

Peaches grown in colder climates, such as Colorado and Idaho, have harvesting seasons that typically begin in the summer and end in October, meaning savvy peach-pickers can enjoy fresh fruit for roughly half the year, from April through October.
