As more and more business signs go up at Clovis’ newest commercial area, a big-name national chain has officially signed a lease to become part of the Loma Vista development.

Ulta Beauty, the mega makeup and beauty care store, has signed a lease for a 10,000-square-foot retail space at the southwest corner of Shaw and Leonard avenues, according to business transaction publication Retail California.

Ulta, which carries a variety of popular brand makeups, hair products, perfumes and more, will be joining a growing list of businesses set to come to the Loma Vista Marketplace.

Brighten Academy Preschool has been open and operating since April.

It was not immediately known when each of the businesses would open.

In addition, House of Pendragon, a popular brewery, is still being built in the Loma Vista Marketplace.

Construction still is ongoing around the Loma Vista Marketplace and beyond, with the whole development still just two years in since breaking ground. The parking lot to the businesses, however, appears to be nearing completion.

Clovis Tower almost completed

A few blocks from the commercial area of Loma Vista, one of the recreational park areas of the Clovis development is nearing completion.

City officials said the “Village Green” surrounding a large clock tower is expected to be open at some point during the summer.

The whole park area is currently fenced off.

The white clock tower, which appears to be at least three stories tall, represents perhaps the most picturesque spot of Loma Vista, an intentional design to provide “unique, eye-catching features,” as described by the City of Clovis, to highlight the excitement of the new area.

And the Village Green is expected to be the heart of the Loma Vista community with about seven acres for the park.

The Loma Vista development has been in the works since 2003, with plans to bring together businesses, park areas, high-density housing, low-density housing and farm lands, for a social, entertainment, cultural and commercial environment — that’s also pedestrian friendly.

Many Clovis residents have been waiting for the Loma Vista area to be completed for years.

What’s developed and opened so far is the commercial area on the north side of Shaw along Leonard, featuring a Starbucks, Arco gas station and minimart, a Pizza Factory and a Little Gym of Clovis.
