Mims company selling Disney Fort Wilderness cabins has message for those wanting a cabin

Hoping to purchase an authentic Disney Fort Wilderness cabin from a Mims company selling them?

You may have to wait until the end of the year for your chance, and even then, chances are slim.

Florida Manufactured Home Sales purchased 100 of the iconic log cabins from Disney. Disney is in the process of redoing the fort and replacing the roughly 300 cabins with brand new ones debuting this summer.

James Robert “J.R.” Morrison, owner of Florida Manufactured Home Sales, has been getting the cabins from Disney in installments of 10 or so at a time. As soon as word got out that he was selling these cabins, they started selling like Mickey ears on Main Street USA.

How many Disney Fort Wilderness cabins are left to buy?

Morrison said he has about 10 cabins left to sell, but he will not get possession of the cabins until later this year or early next year. He is waiting until later this year to sell them.

“Reach out in December, that’s when we’ll know exactly how many we have remaining,” Morrison said. “We will have a waiting list for them.”

How much will the remaining Disney Fort Wilderness cabins cost?

That’s still to be determined.

They were originally being sold for $49,900. The price was then increased to $59,900.

Morrison isn’t sure if there will be another price increase for the few that will go on sale later this year.

Is there still a chance to buy a Fort Wilderness cabin elsewhere?

Morrison advises people to check online for resales.

“Keep your eyes open,” he said. “Some of these people who bought them aren’t going to be able to keep these things. I do anticipate a certain amount coming up for sale by owner.”

He cautioned people to inspect the cabin before purchasing.

“This has definitely showed me that one, there are a huge amount of Disney fans, and two, tiny houses are the way, they are the future,” Morrison said. “A lot of people aren’t going to be able to afford that $500,000 home. The generation today doesn’t want the big houses. It’s a great alternative.”

What are the details of the Disney log cabins for sale?

The cabins were bult in 1998 or 2001 and have since undergone renovations. They are just under 500-square-feet and contain a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living space.

Aside from purchasing an iconic piece of Disney history, buyers also get all the themed furniture – queen size bed and twin bunkbeds, complete with mattresses, kitchen table and chairs and sofa bed. Also thrown in – televisions, light fixtures, appliances like a toaster coffee maker, refrigerator and stove. Even the bible in the bedroom nightstand.

There are touches of Disney throughout the cabin, from the spot on the front door to place a Magicband to Disney-themed toiletry bottles attached to the bathtub wall to a sign inside a closet addressed to “Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Guests” with safety information.

There are Fort Wilderness cabins in Mims. James Robert ÒJRÓ Morrison is not allowed to say they are from Fort Wilderness, but the north Brevard entrepreneur was able to get about 100 of the cabins to resell as Disney upgrades the cabins at the park.
