Multiple lane and ramp closures on I-465 are planned for this week in Marion County, the Indiana Department of Transportation announced Tuesday.

The closures will focus on upgrades, including paving, overhead signs and bridge demolition. The work is part of the I-69 Finish Line project.

According to the Department of Transportation, I-69 Finish Line is the last section of the I-69 connection between Evansville and Indianapolis. The goal of the project is to improve State Road 37 between Martinsville and Indianapolis. It is set to be fully open later this year.

I-69 closures include:

• Double lane closures happening nightly going I-465 eastbound and westbound between I-65 and I-70 starting this evening and ending Thursday, May 30.

• A double lane closure on eastbound I-465 between Kentucky Avenue/SR 67 and Harding Street from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 31.

• A double right lane closure on westbound I-465 between I-65 and Kentucky Avenue/SR 67 is planned to begin on Friday, May 31 starting at 7 p.m. Those closures should last until 6 a.m. Monday, June 3.

• Ramps coming onto I-465 westbound will close including northbound US 31/East Street to westbound I-465, and Harding Street to westbound I-465. These on-ramps will be closed from Friday, May 31 to Monday, June 3.

The southbound US 31/East Street Ramp to westbound I-465, however, will be closed going into the summer.

The closures, which are also happening in Morgan County, are in addition to work being done on I-465 southbound, which is expected to start on Friday, May 31. Drivers can plan their trips using 511.in.gov.
