ITO EN adopts SIG’s Drinksplus technology for new beverages

Japanese beverage company ITO EN has launched two premium beverages using SIG’s packaging solution and filling technology.

The new products, Crunchy Smoothie and Crispy Potage, feature bite-sized pieces and are packaged in SIG’s SmileSmall carton packs.

The adoption of this carton was facilitated by the integration of SIG’s Drinksplus technology in the SIG SmileSmall 24 Aseptic filling machine.

With the new products, ITO EN plans to strengthen its presence in the veggie juice space in its domestic market.

ITO EN brand manager Tetsuo Yamaguchi said: “Our new products provide our consumers with a refreshingly different drinking experience – rich and satisfying with the incorporation of real vegetable pieces.

“The novel packaging solution and the filling technology from SIG, that allows these inclusions to be added, enables our consumers to easily supplement their vegetable intake anytime and anywhere.”

SIG’s SmileSmall carton packs are easy to carry, handle, and store, as well as incorporate a high proportion of forest-based renewable materials.

According to ITO EN, the paperboard used in the carton packs is 100% Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified.

The lightweight packaging is produced using 100% renewable electricity and is fully recyclable.

The solution is also said to have the lowest carbon footprint when compared with carton alternatives.

SIG Asia Pacific president and general manager Angela Lu said: “In Japan, it is vital for food and beverage companies like ITO EN to innovate the market with healthy and high-quality products, particularly for on-the-go consumption.

“Our SIG Drinksplus technology offers the opportunity to add value to healthy beverages with the inclusion of pieces of fruit, vegetables, nuts, or cereals, which can be easily filled into our convenient on-the-go carton packs. It opens up a plethora of new opportunities to transform and drive forward the Japanese beverage market.”

Recently, I.P. Natural Products selected SIG‘s XSlimBloc carton packs to launch its new range of juices within its Ivy beverage line.

“ITO EN adopts SIG’s Drinksplus technology for new beverages ” was originally created and published by Packaging Gateway, a GlobalData owned brand.
