Testimony resumes in hush money case

Donald Trump’s hush money trial is set to resume Tuesday in Manhattan Criminal Court, where the prosecution will continue presenting its historic case against the former president.

On Monday, the court heard testimony from Trump Organization accountants about Trump’s payments to his lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen, who facilitated the $130,000 deal to silence adult film star Stormy Daniels. Judge Juan Merchan also found Trump in contempt of court and fined him another $1,000 for violating the gag order preventing him from attacking witnesses and commenting on the jury. Merchan warned the former president that any further violations could result in jail time.

Trump is facing 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to conceal the hush money payment to Daniels, who is among the witnesses expected to testify this week.
