Four tractor-trailers, three vehicles involved in crash on I-77 in Carroll County


UPDATE 1:37 P.M. CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)– VDOT has cleared the tractor-trailer crash on I-77 in Carroll County.

All lanes have been reopened at this time.



CARROLL COUNTY, Va, (WFXR)– The Hillsville Fire Department has provided further details about the tractor-trailer crash on I-77 in Carroll County.

According to the fire department, crews were dispatched at 9:00 a.m. to I-77 near mile marker 22 on a report of a multi-vehicle crash. They arrived and found four tractor-trailers and three passenger vehicles involved with all occupants out of their vehicles.

Fire personnel reports the Carroll County Fire Department took one person to a local hospital.

I-77 North has been shut down to allow crews to clean up fuel leaks and oil leaks from several vehicles involved in the crash.

Virginia State Police is investigating this crash. WFXR News will update this story as further information is released.



CAROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)– The Virginia Department of Transportation says drivers can expect delays on I-77 in Carroll County due to a tractor-trailer crash.

As off 11:45 a.m., all north lanes are closed and traffic backups are four miles.

VDOT also says traffic is being detoured of the highway at Exit 19.
