Ikea opens first Irish distribution centre in Dublin

Ikea has opened its first distribution centre in Ireland, which will cut home delivery times for Irish orders.

The centre in Rathcoole in South Dublin is double the size of Croke Park, Ikea said, employing over 200 people.

The Dublin distribution centre will mean home delivery orders for Irish customers will no longer have to be dispatched from the UK, reducing delivery times to three days.

In addition to the opening of the new facility, Ikea announced that from Wednesday, all Dublin home delivery orders will be delivered by zero-emission vehicles.

The company has also committed that all Irish orders will be delivered by such vehicles by August 2025.

Ikea’s country customer fulfilment manager Jakob Bertilsson said the distribution centre will provide “faster and more reliable” deliveries for Irish customers, while also increasing product availability and reducing lead times.
