Cowley College counterfeit money suspect charged

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Nebraska man who was arrested at a Cowley College dorm on suspicion of making counterfeit money was charged Monday.

Lam Gok Kuany was charged with two counts of theft of property or services, two counts of attempted theft of property or services, and one count of possession of marijuana.

Court documents show the charges stem from incidents starting on March 1 and ending on March 28. Prosecutors allege Kuany used counterfeit currency at Braum’s, Dollar General and Taco Bell to purchase food and other items.

The Arkansas City Police Department said it had received reports over the past month of a man going into a local business and attempting to pay with what they believed was counterfeit currency.
