Las Campanas Community Funds distributes record $874,500 in local grants


Mar. 11—Since 2022, Las Campanas Community Funds has upped the ante with its grants, this year reaching $847,500 to 28 nonprofits in Santa Fe.

Las Campanas in 2023 donated $600,000 and the year before that $500,000. The prior 20 years combined saw $1 million in grants, the nonprofit reported recently.

“Our members clearly recognize the economic and social challenges being faced by many people here in Santa Fe and have really stepped up to support the community,” community grants chair John Bernstein said in a news release. “Programs at the selected nonprofits will feed hungry people, provide shelter to the unhoused and drive programs that create long-term positive change through education and skills development.”

This year’s grant cycle awarded $403,000 to education organizations, $234,000 to human services organizations and $210,500 to health sciences entities.

Area nonprofits receiving grants are Bag n’ Hand Food Pantry, The Birthing Tree, Breakthrough Santa Fe, CASA First Judicial District, College and Career Plaza, Communities in Schools, Cooking with Kids, Esperanza Shelter, First Serve New Mexico, The Food Depot, Gerard’s House, Girls Inc., Growing Up New Mexico, Interfaith Community Shelter (Pete’s Place), Kitchen Angels, La Familia Health, The Life Link, Literacy Volunteers of Santa Fe, Memory Care Alliance, NDI New Mexico, Punching out Parkinson’s, Reading Quest, Santa Fe Alliance for Science, Santa Fe Children’s Museum, The Sky Center, Solace Sexual Assault Services, Villages of Santa Fe and Youth Shelter & Family Services.
